Manuka in Essential Oil
Manuka, often confused with Tea Tree or Kanuka, is a ubiquitous shrub-type tree native to Aotearoa New Zealand. The mature hardwood is dense and resinous and is often used for carving, smoking foods and the cultivation of Manuka honey from flower pollination - prized for its flavour and therapeutic properties. It is well known for its use in reducing respiratory congestion and support of healthy skin.
Lavender Spike
Also known as Portuguese Lavender, Lavender Spike is a strongly aromatic shrub growing up to 80cm tall and is native to the western Mediterranean region. It has the highest camphor content of the whole Lavender family. It boasts a rich history of use due to its popular fragrance, strong antiseptic qualities and its medicinal properties that encourage healthy respiratory function. Lavender Spike is very different therapeutically from Lavender Sweet and Lavender True.
Thyme Thymol
An aromatic perennial evergreen herb in the mint family indigenous to the Mediterranean region. While it's known mostly as a garden ornamental and culinary herb, Thyme's medicinal reputation and history is also considerable. It is popular in the middle east as a tea and is packed with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, especially Vitamin C. It has been used for a range of respiratory conditions and is beneficial in fighting viral, bacterial and fungal conditions. Its aroma is popular in the elevation of mood.
Tea Tree
Tea tree is a species of tall shrub endemic to Australia. It grows along streams and on swampy flats and generally dominates the habitat where it occurs. It was used widely by indigenous Australians prior to colonisation and has been popular since the early 20th century when it's useful molecular compounds were established. It is considered a must-have in every home pharmacy due to its antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and insecticde properties. It is often referred to as a medicine cabinet in a bottle.
